Fall baseball plays double headers on Saturday afternoons in September through mid October with other teams in District 9. Major’s games are typically 9 & 11:00 and minor games are 1:30 & 3:30.

Deep River Little League Fall Ball registrations will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. All post-marked envelopes are saved with the registration. There is limited space for 1 Major’s team and 1 Minor’s team.

League age is based on April 30, 2011. Therefore your player’s age on April 30, 2011 creates his eligibility. If you’re league age 12, you are required to move up to Junior Fall Ball. Junior Fall Ball information will be released once I have been notified who is running Junior Fall Ball.

ROCK CATS – Players to watch: Aaron Hicks, Twins Top 10 position prospect by Baseball America. Hicks is hitting .273 with 4 HR’s, 14 RBI’s and 4 SB’s. Baseball America recently tagged him a “Five Tool” prospect, but last season his power was sapped. This season he is off to a powerful start, leading the Rock Cats in home runs with 4 in 88 AB’s. That projects to about 25 over the full season. GET HIS AUTOGRAPH. Two years ago I predicted Rock Cats SS Trevor Plouffe to be in the Majors in short order. Plouffe appeared in the Majors last season, and now has become a regular fixture in the Twins lineup night after night.

SEA DOGS – Players to watch: WASTELAND!! The Red Sox affiliate AA squad has no Top 10 prospects at this level. Daisuke Matsuzaka showed up for a rehab start earlier this season, but he’s since long gone. There is no power to speak of on this team except for Juan Carlos Linares. The Cuban defector is hitting .362 with 4 HR’s in just 69 AB’s. But, the Sea Dogs collectively have only 15 HR’s with 4 of those as Linares’. HORRIBLE! Granted the Rock Cats have 17, but those HR’s are produced by 6 of the 12 active starters, where as, the Sea Dogs produced those 15 HR’s from 11 of 16 active starters.

Sounds like the Sea Dogs might be recruiting the Deep River Yankees this Saturday!!

Opening Day Ceremonies will begin at 9am on Devitt A. Please be early as we have a full game schedule on the heels of the ceremonies, and cannot afford delays. Please bring your players to the back of Devitt A to lineup with his/her team. Find your Coach as all Coaches will have the order in which players should lineup to be called onto the field for our March on Devitt. After you have delivered your player to the team lines, please proceed to the bleachers area on Devitt A for the “March”, speeches, announcements, and the first pitch.

We will have flyers available to know the agenda for the day, picture schedule, games schedule, etc., however here is a quick run down of what to expect:

9am – March on Devitt / Player Announcements – Rob Partyka

Sportography and Deep River Little League

Deep River Little League has had dramatic change over the last three seasons, and the President would like to address many of these changes in an open forum. All parents are welcome to attend.

Sessions will be broken down by peer group. Parents are asked to report to Between the Lines ONLY for your designated time based on your players age. Please report to the assessment 10 minutes prior to your start time. Reporting times are broken down as follows:

10:30am to 11:15am – All 8 Year Olds
11:30am to 12:15pm – All 9 Year Olds
12:30pm to 1:15pm – All 10 & 11 Year Olds

The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate players based on their abilities in each category. This helps to provide balance when forming our Coach Pitch, Minors and Majors teams. Also, for the Minors and Majors levels, the scores will provide a ranking system from which the Minors and Majors coaches will use to Draft their teams. Currently DRLL will only form two Minors teams for a total of only 24 available roster spots. Consequently, if your player is not drafted to a Minors or Majors roster, the player will be assigned to a Coach Pitch team. All players will be assigned to a team.

Finally, if your player cannot make the assessment please notify the league ASAP. We will make arrangements for an individual assessment. PLAYERS NOT ASSESSED ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A MAJORS ROSTER. This is a Little League International rule, no exceptions.
